Founded in 1921 as Fitzpatrick Contractors, in 2004 the company became part of the VolkerWessels group - which has a turnover of €5.4 billion with operations in Europe and North America. In 2009 the company was renamed VolkerFitzpatrick in order to better reflect the company's association with its sister companies in the VolkerWessels group.
