This morning de Poel headquarters received some great news about our very own Chief Executive, Matthew Sanders. Matthew has been shortlisted as a regional finalist for the Entrepreneur of the Year award 2012 and is one of 26 figureheads from North West companies.

Katie has over seven years experience in recruitment working with a team of consultants ensuring quality and financial performance indicators are met and maintained.
Before starting at de Poel, Yasmin worked at a number of leading recruitment companies within the financial sector as well as the public sector.

The number of temporary workers employed within manufacturing has risen for the second time this year according to data from de Poel, the UK’s number one procurer of temporary agency labour.
With the ever increasing restrictions and rules being placed on the temporary recruitment sector, analysts and industry executives are seeing many larger recruitment agencies buying out smaller recruitment companies as they struggle to cope with the financial and administrative burden on their organisation.
As the first 12 weeks’ qualifying period expires for Northern Ireland, early signs show that, even though the AWR has had a significant effect on cost and bureaucracy, companies have not been deterred from using temporary agency labour, with demand remaining strong.
The AWR came into effect in Northern Ireland on the 5th December, with many concerns still prevalent. One of the main concerns is that some employers seem reluctant to work with agencies on ensuring compliance with this new legislation.

The number of people in their late 50s and 60s working unpaid overtime has risen sharply over the last decade according to a report by the TUC. The figures show that in 2011, 660,000 workers in this age range worked unpaid hours, a shocking increase of a quarter of a million from 2001.
Results of a survey of over 1,000 business leaders, have confirmed that one in three think there is a high or very high risk of the UK re-entering into a recession in 2012.
The survey, carried out by the Institute of Directors (IoD), also showed that a further 53 per cent of bosses think that there is a moderate risk of recession.

placeability™ was again on the winning team this month, working with Remploy and Making Space to ‘pass on the baton’, at an event aiming to help recruit and aid the disabled and those with long term barriers to work.
The ‘baton’ event was organised to celebrate International Day of Disabled People (IDDP), which is held annually across the world on December 3rd to promote awareness of disability issues, the rights of disabled people and the integration of disabled people into their local communities.
